Resources: A Wide-Mouthed Funnel

So Much Better Than Not Having One

By Edward Behr

To fill canning jars and other containers without spilling, a wide stainless-steel funnel is a huge help. A common width is about 5¾ inches (about 16 cm) with a bottom opening of about 2¼ inches (nearly 6 cm). A number of options are available, some for under $10, and they look like the one I’ve used for years, though they’re variable in shine (a high polish seems best) and presumably durability. In the US and Canada, the reliable Lee Valley offers a wide funnel with a narrow screw-off bottom, to fill bottles, for US$12.90 or Can$17.50. ●
